MACEDON, Koinon of. Vitellius. 69 AD. Æ 26mm (8.44 gm). Laureate head left / Macedonian shield. RPC 1616; Gaebler 245. Near VF, green patina with brown highlights. Rare. ($200) The Koinon, or federation, of Macedon was a group of cities that issued a joint coinage in the name of the federation. Thessalonika, one of the member cities, is the most likely mint.
